Situated at only 6 kilometers from Sanremo, Arma di Taggia distinguishes itself for its mild climate, its large and sandy beach and its tourist infrastructure. It's a lively center for summer and winter vacations; it is equipped with hotels of every category, i.e. hotels with swimming pools as well as family-type boarding houses.
Taggia, instead, is situated at the mouth of the Valle Argentina. Surrounded by flowers, olive trees and citrus fruit trees, it is one of the most ancient and renowned centers of the Riviera dei Fiori.

It is the native land of famous men, among which Giovanni Ruffini, author of the famous novel "Dottor Antonio". It is worth to take a trip in order to discover its beauty and historical-architectonic heritage: i.e. the characteristic medieval structure, the towers, the walls, the works of art preserved in the monastery of San Domenico (the most important monumental buildings of western Liguria). It was built in 1490 and preserves in its interior valuable works of Ludovico, Antonio and Francesco Brea, Giovanni Canavesio and Emanuele Maccari, called Macario.
One may enter the old center of Taggia through the Porta dell'Orso (the Gate of the Bear), opened in the sixteenth century walls, to take a walk in the streets of the town made precious by portals adorned with figures (made with the black stone of the Valle Argentina) of the noble houses, which inscriptions tell about the events of the local families.

The fame of Taggia is bound to the growing of the olive tree, which was introduced in the XII century by Benedictine monks who selected the "Taggia Olive" quality from which derives a particularly precious olive oil known all over the world for its "bouquet" and its low acidity.
